2009 Martin D-18
Serial # 1374979. A hot-rodded D-18, with vintage features and powerful, straight braced tone. A very fine guitar with a well developed tone, warm midrange and plenty of power, this D-18 is an excellent strummer and flat-picker.
The guitar is in excellent condition and shows little in the way of playwear. There are no cracks, damage, or repairs, and the fretwork and in-shop set-up are excellent. The guitar's 1-11/16" wide nut and rounded neck are very comfortable, and quite different in feel than the D-18 that's currently in production.
The guitar has been given a cosmetic vintage-make over by its previous owner. The neck and headstock face have been buffed to a gloss sheen, the tuners have been replaced with vintage-style open-geared Grovers, and the black pickguard has been replaced with a bevel-edged faux-tortoise guard. Tusq nut and pins, bone saddle, and a custom undersaddle pickup added (Shatten Design preamp and soundhole mounted volume and tone controls, mated with an LR Baggs Element ribbon).
Solid Mahogany back and sides, Sitka spruce with standard X bracing; black bindings, rosewood fingerboard and bridge.
