Sawchyn Beavertail Mandolin

Peter Sawchyn is sadly no longer building instruments.

For us, Peter Sawchyn's line of Beaver Tail mandolin family instruments are among the most exciting additions to Folkway's instrument line-up over the last few years. Made entirely by hand here in Canada by one of the country's most highly regarded mandolin builders, the Beaver Tail offers the budget-hunting mandolin player an instrument made with fine hand-craftsmanship, the highest quality materials, excellent playability, very fine tone, and great looks.

Styled after the flat top and back Gibson Army-Navy mandolins built in the WWI era, the Sawchyn Beaver Tail features solid tonewoods (Sitka spruce and figured hard maple), scalloped X bracing, ivoroid binding, three-piece mahogany neck with radiused ebony fingerboard, compensated ebony bridge, bone nut, high-quality tuning machines, and satin nitrocellulose lacquer finish. The fit and finish are amazing, the fretwork is perfect, and the set up and neck carve make for a wonderful feel. The instrument even comes with a high-quality gig bag.

There's really nothing we can find fault with in these instruments, and we're tickled to offer them to you. Better value in the mandolin world simply doesn't exist. Made in Canada.
