2014 Gibson F-5 Master Model David Harvey

With its signature label by David Harvey, the Gibson F-5 Master Model is the finest mandolin Gibson builds, and is widely considered to be the best sounding F5 to bear a Gibson inlay on the headstock since the mid 1920s.

Styled after the Loar-signed Master Model F5 mandolins built nearly 100 years ago, this 2014 example features a carved red spruce top with tuned parallel tone bar bracing, figured maple back and rims, vintage varnish finish, silver-plated hardware, and pearl accents. There is incredible beauty in the details of this instrument – from the pickguard mounting bracket to the top's perfect quarterflower grain; and from the masterful engraving on the tailpiece to the hand-cut 1920's-inspired flowerpot and Gibson inlays in the headstock. Deeply quilted maple back, lovely figure in the neck, and a rich Cremona rubbed sunburst throughout. The silver-plated tailpiece and tuning machines add another layer of classiness, and the pearl tuner buttons finish off the instrument perfectly.

A throaty, deep, and powerful F5 with a great chop and plenty of cut when you want it, this is a serious bluegrass picker. The neck feels perfect too; and with its fresh set-up there's nothing to slow you down on this F5. A remarkable mandolin.
