2009 Gibson Hummingbird Pro

To those of us steeped in vintage Gibson history and lore, the 2009-2014 Hummingbird Pro is pretty much a reissue of the early 1960's square shouldered SJ rather than a Hummingbird. The guitar features a mahogany and spruce body with dark tobacco sunburst finish, multi-layered purflings and white bindings, a smallish SJ style tortoise-celluloid pickguard (without hummingbird décor), a bound rosewood fingerboard with split parallelogram inlays and pearl logo and crown inlays. The neck features a long 25.5” scale (arguably a hummingbird feature), and a nut width of 1-11/16”.

Regardless of its name, this guitar is a great sounding, and great playing modern Gibson. It's had its frets and nut replaced by us within the last year – not because of playwear, but to replace Gibson's original lackluster fretwork and nut with the good stuff – and playability is first rate as such. And apart from some minor dings to the finish, the guitar looks first rate as well.

A balanced, warm, and lively guitar, this Hummingbird Pro is a perfect choice for vocal accompaniment, strumming, songwriting and whatever else you want to throw its way, and with its LR Baggs Element pickup it's stage ready too.

With original hardshell case
