1958 Gibson L-50

FON T4878. A stunningly clean, completely original and nearly perfect L-50. This one is among the cleanest vintage guitars we've ever offered; its only flaws are minor fret and finish wear in the first position of the neck, and a small ding on the top's lower bass bout. It's otherwise pretty much perfect, including its playability.

Carved spruce top with reddish-brown tobacco sunburst finish, and brown-stained maple back and sides. Single-ply white bindings, 5-ply pickguard, adjustable rosewood bridge and raised diamond tailpiece. Rosewood fingerboard with pearloid trapezoid inlays, original small frets, and lacquered-in original nut. Original Kluson tuners with original buttons. Round-carve late 50's profile neck with 1-11/16" nut and 24.75" scale.

The guitar is a 2-owner instrument, brought to Folkway by the fellow who bought it in the early 1970's. It's been carefully stored over the years, and has clearly not been used much. We've set it up in shop, and have it strung with 12-54 Martin Monel strings, which sound great on these guitars.

With original chipboard case, in matching condition.
