1946 Gibson L-50

No FON or serial #. A first-year post war L-50, with carved spruce top, reddish-brown sunburst finish, bound tortoise celluloid pickguard, and trapezoid pearloid inlays. The original Kluson tuners, block logo decal positioned low on the headstock and sunburst hue all point to a 1946 manufacture date, but ultimately, without a serial number or FON to go by the year is a well-educated estimate.

A gorgeous guitar, this L-50 captures the essence of Gibson in the 1940s. It is completely original but for the endpin and the hanger of the tailpiece, which was replaced and aged by us to blend in seamlessly. There are no cracks or repairs, the frets play well, and the set-up is easy. K+K Pure pickup installed in our shop with Tapastring Vintage Jack endpin.

A very fine sounding L-50, the guitar is loud and quick, with a nicely articulated warmth. Round neck, 1-11/16" nut, 24-3/4" scale.
