Martin’s D-15E looks a lot like the D-15M on first glimpse, but the two models have some notable differences which allow Martin to price the Mexican-made, pickup-equipped D-15E some $500 lower than the USA-made non-electrified D-15M. To say the D-15E is a great deal is the understatement of Martin’s guitar lineup.
The D-15E is built with a plantation-grown mahogany top and X bracing, sapele back and sides, and a mortise and tenon neck joint. The fretboard and bridge are Katalox, and the neck dimensions and finish are consistent with most other Martins currently being made, with a 1-3/4” nut width, 2-5/32 bridge string spread, and a low oval carve. Scale is 25.4”. The pickup is a Martin E1 system, with onboard volume and tone controls and a chromatic tuner.
