2004 Apitius Classic F5

A masterfully built F5 by one of the most highly regarded builders in the trade, this Oliver Apitius F5 features deeply pillow-figured bookmatched maple back and matching sides, triple-bound body and headstock, high gloss sunburst finish, bound ebony pickguard, and gold hardware. It is among the most cleanly constructed mandolins you’ll likely ever encounter, and features finish work of the highest caliber.

A traditionally constructed instrument, this borrows its design from Loar-period F5s, and offers the classic cut, throatiness, mid-range flower, and strong projection that has come to define this style of mandolin. It’s a wonderful F5, and balances the tonal needs of solo and ensemble playing very well.

The instrument is gorgeous and is in stunning condition as well. Playwear is limited to light fretwear and the setup is excellent. Bone nut, ebony bridge, and engraved tailpiece. It has had a seam separation near the tailpiece cleanly reglued in our shop. There is a tiny hairline crack at the base of the scroll that is too small to fret about.
