1962 Fender Vibrolux

The Fender 6G11A Vibrolux was built from 1961-63 and is among the less common brown-face era combos out there. It’s a 6L6 amp with a single 12” speaker, so you can think of it something of a big-brother of the Deluxe, with a bit more power and clean headroom, but with a similar 12” speaker soundscape, and in a lightweight and remarkably portable package. This example has been serviced and sounds tremendous, with a lush vibrato, and some seriously happening breakup at about 5 on the volume knob.

The tolex and grille appear to be original, the leather handle is a modern replacement, the speaker is an Oxford 12L6, which is correct, but is a later ceramic magnet version that dates to 1971. The output transformer and choke are original, the power transformer is a correct old-stock replacement from 1974 Vibrolux.

A great sounding vintage Fender amp with a whole lot of caché.
