c.1938 Rickenbacher Model 59 Lap Steel and Amp Set

Serial # E751 (Steel), E869 (Amp). The Model 59 was Rickenbacher's budget steel guitar offering in the years preceding WWII. The set featured the stamped, metal-bodied Model 59 steel and a steel-cabinet 5 watt matching amp. They came in a matching textured baked enamel ivory finish, and they were controlled together by the steel's single volume knob. Thanks to the large horseshoe magnet pickup the steel sounds fabulous, and the amp is no slouch either.

The amplifier originally was built with a hard-wired lead that plugged into the steel's input jack, but we've replaced it with a standard ΒΌ" jack. We've deleted the 'Death Cap' circuit, and have added a grounded plug, too.

The pair is in excellent condition. Neither piece show much in the way of paint flake, the amp's handle is intact, as are the plastic nut, saddle, knob, and tuning machines on the steel. Original tuners are shiny and beautiful, too.
