1962 Rickenbacker Jerry Byrd Steel

Serial number BL611. Built in December 1962, this early Jerry Byrd model captures the essence of 1960's high-style, with its walnut slab body and grille-cloth covered angled front. It's a beautiful instrument, and comfortable to play with a nicely beveled top that lets the player's wrists have ample space.

The mass of the guitar, combined with the classic Rickenbacker horseshoe pickup makes for one of the best-sounding country steels we've ever played. Jerry Byrd was one of the most influential steel guitarists of the 20th century, and lent his sound to some of country music's biggest names before bringing Hawaiian music back to Hawaii later in his career. His signature Rickenbacker is the company's most coveted post-war steel guitar.
