2014 Santa Cruz 00-Skye

Serial # 795. Designed by Acoustic fingerstyle Jazz guitarist Eric Skye and SCGC's Richard Hoover, the 00-Skye is a sophisticated instrument that's specifically made for the discerning modern fingerstyle instrumentalist.

Built with quartered Cocobolo back and sides, Adirondack Red spruce top and scalloped braces, and assembled with hot hide glue, this deep-bodied 00-sized 12 fretter is both sensitive and dynamic. It can handle a very aggressive right hand attack, but manages to offer up exceptional tone played lightly as well. It has a throaty mid range that's reminiscent of a 30's Martin, a strong and clean fundamental, and a lovely dryness through the trebles. It's a bold guitar, but one that's not overpowering.

A work of art in itself, the 00-Skye features exceptionally quartered cocobolo with deeply and richly hued reds and browns, Master-grade red spruce top, Herringbone top purflings, carefully mitered wooden side and back purflings, grained ivoroid binding. The fingerboard and headstock are given a matching treatment. Santa Cruz has always offered very tastefully appointed guitars, but the execution of mitered wood and celluloid trimming this instrument is really something to behold.

V shaped neck carve, 1-13/16" width at the nut, 24.9" scale length, and 2-1/4" string spread at the bridge. Slotted headstock with Waverly tuning machines. Pyramid bridge, bone saddle and nut, ebony pins, and pearl inlays.

The guitar is in nearly unused condition. Set-up by us, it plays as nicely as you think it does.

With Ameritage hardshell case.
