2012 Collings D1AVN

With its Adirondack red spruce top, forward shifted bracing, vintage hahogany Dreadnought style, and chunkier Vintage Now neck, the Collings D1AVN offers everything we could ask for in a big guitar. The instrument's bass response is staggering – it's woody and resonant and offers remarkable headroom. Midrange is sweet and expressive, and the trebles are round and very powerful.

The Vintage Now neck carve offers a full and rounded profile with 1-3/4” nut, and the strings taper to a vintage-spec 2-5/16” spread at the bridge. The feel is quite vintage, and the widely spaced strings allow ample space for your hand to navigate the strings by the soundhole.

South American mahogany back and sides, Adirondack red spruce top, scalloped bracing with pre-war positioning, tortoise celluloid bindings, ebony fingerboard, bridge, and headstock overlay, bone nut and saddle, gloss lacquer finish, and nickel Waverly tuning machines.

The guitar was purchased new though Folkway in 2012 and has been well cared for ever since. There are a few very minor scratches and dings on the body and neck, and the frets show light wear. Set-up recently in our shop.
