2012 Bourgeois Slope D Adirondack Lefty

It's not terribly common to find a lefty Bourgeois available on the used market; it's the first of its kind we've had through Folkway in nearly 20 years of selling guitars. Unfortunate, really, because we're really enjoying having this one in the store and will surely be sad to see it move on from here. It's a solidly fantastic guitar, and beyond being a heap of fun to play, it looks darn good doing it. Dana Bourgeois personally sprays every sunburst finish, and is long-famous for the look of his bursts.

The slope D is Bourgeois' Gibson-shaped dreadnought. The guitar features a 30's Gibson style wide-angle X brace and the rounded body shape that made the Jumbo famous. Beyond that, the guitar is largely steeped in Martin pedigree, and the result is a big-voice guitar that's got the power, articulation, clarity, and focus of a pre-war D-18, along with the warmth, depth, character, and mid-range of a great 40's J-45. Kind of the best of both worlds in one guitar, really.

Red spruce top with scalloped braces, mahogany back and sides, firestripe celluloid pickguard, ivoroid bindings and understated black purflings. Mahogany neck with ebony fingerboard, headstock and bridge, pearl logo and micro-dot inlays. Bone nut and saddle, Waverly tuners, and ivoroid pins.

The guitar's neck is carved into a very comfortable C that's neither large or small. The nut measures 1-23/32”, the scale is 25.5” and the string spread at the bridge is 2-3/16”.

This example is in immaculate, perfect, mint, and excellent condition. Set-up by our resident in-house left-handed luthier, it plays exactly as beautifully as you'd expect it to.

With deluxe original hardshell case
