2005 Campellone 17" Standard

A wonderful guitar, with expressive and forward 17” tone, fabulous looks, and meticulous craftsmanship, this Campellone is inspiring on many levels. Mark has long been considered one of the finest contemporary archtop builders, and every instrument of his that we encounter reinforces his reputation for us.

This 17" cutaway was built in 2005 and features simple appointments and pretty tone woods. Triple-layer bindings, unadorned bound rosewood fingerboard, and gold Grover tuning machines; hand-carved rosewood bridge with solid base, gold tailpiece with rosewood inserts tailpiece. The headstock features a bound ebony headplate with the builder's name inlaid in pearl and a deco truss rod cover. Bound celluloid pickguard with floating pickup and integrated volume control. Endpin jack is installed through the tailpiece.

X-braced carved spruce top, carved figured maple back, 3-piece neck with mahogany center, and naturallacquer finish throughout. 25.5" scale neck with 1-11/16" nut and rounded carve that's neither fat nor thin.

The guitar is in mint condition, and shows almost no playwear to the original frets. Set-up in our shop, the guitar plays delightfully well. We have it strung with flat-wound 13s in nickel for a little extra wamth.
