2000 Oskar Graf

Serial 4/2000. Oskar Graf's cut-away steel string guitars have long been considered to be among the finest fingerstyle instruments available. His guitars are unique in their ability to offer clarity, volume, balance, and amazing headroom all in one instrument. With a very strong fundamental and focus, a well supportive compliment of overtones, and plenty of that 'piano' style sustain, there's nothing at all like a Graf.

This model features a flush cut-away body, Indian rosewood back and sides, German spruce top, and a wide 1-7/8" nut. The body is roughly similar to an OM in size, but slightly deeper and with a wider waist. Rosewood bindings, ebony fingerboard and bridge, mosaic and half-herringbone rosette.

Oskar's craftsmanship is of the highest order, and his attention to detail is unrivalled in the luthierie world. The guitar features perfectly mitered purfling strips on the top, back, and sides, a beautiful multi-colored houndstooth back strip, and some of the cleanest craftsmanship you'll ever see under the hood.

The guitar was built for Toronto-based fingerstyle legend, Jason Fowler, who is a long-time Graf devotee. If you are familiar with Jason's recordings from the early 2000's, you're familiar with this guitar's tone.

Set-up in our shop, the guitar's action measures 5-6 64ths at the 12th fret with a low saddle. It's a very comfortable and easy guitar to play. The scale length is 25-1/4", with pin spread at the bridge of 2-1/4".

No cracks or repairs, but the guitar does show a number of minor dings, dents and light scratches typical of a pro-used instrument. A passive under-saddle pickup has been installed, and three of the tuning machine's threaded bushings are nickel rather than gold. Minor details!
