2012 Martin HD-28V

Martin's HD-28V was the company's vintage-style version of the HD-28 during its production run, and featured the HD-28's scalloped bracing and herringbone trim, but added a pre-war inspired modified V neck with 1-3/4” nut, a tortoiseshell celluloid pickguard, through-cut saddle bridge, and vintage style tuners and headstock logo. The model was discontinued with the 2018 standard series redesign as Martin rolled the HD-28 and HD-28V into a single model with vintage features and a modern neck.

This example is in excellent condition and is a tremendously good sounding rosewood Dreadnought. It's had some time to open up and develop, and has lots of volume, headroom and warmth. It's a strong flatpicker and strummer, and offers that classic Martin scallop-braced Dreadnought tone. There are few dings and scratches on the finish, and a little bit of finish damage on its back from resting on guitar stand that wasn't lacquer proof. Frets show almost no wear, and the setup was just recently done here at Folkway.

Modified V neck carve with 1-3/4” nut, 25.4 scale and bridge pin spacing of 2-1/8”.
