2010 Martin 000-28EC Eric Clapton Signature Model
Serial #1468156. The 000-28EC is Martin's longest running and most successful signature model, and was launched in the wake of the massive success of Eric Clapton's MTV Unplugged album. The model hasn't changed much in the 20 years since its introduction, but has become refined as Martin zeroed in on their Vintage and Marquis series appointments, bracing, and tone.
This 2010 model is in nearly perfect condition with almost no playwear and no scratches or dents of any significance. No repairs, no issues, and it has been carefully set-up in our shop.
Scalloped braced Sitka Spruce top, Indian rosewood back and sides, herringbone top trim and vintage style 28 appointments but for a herringbone rosette. Drop-in saddle bridge, Delmar bevelled-edge tortoiseshell celluloid pickguard, gloss lacquer finish. Modified V neck carve with gloss finish, ebony fingerboard, long pattern diamonds and squares inlays, bone nut, old style logo, and open-geared tuning machines. 24.9" scale, 1-3/4" nutwidth, 2-1/4" string spacing at the saddle.
The 000-28EC is Martin's only Marquis-level short-scale 000-28 model. The 24.9" scale is typical of 000-size 14 fret Martins built from 1934 until fairly recently. The shorter scale length adds warmth and bass-end presence to the immensely popular 000 body size, as compared to the OM's 25.4" scale. And thanks to the lower string tension of this model, bluesy bends are that much easier to handle.
With original hardshell case
