1978 Martin D-18

Serial # 403743. At 37 years old, this D-18 has had some time to open up and develop into a great sounding instrument. It has a lovely richness, and lots of the warmth that only happens over time. A powerful guitar with great volume and strength, and excellent balance across the strings.

The guitar is in good condition, and plays very well. Nicely made bone nut and saddle are the only non-original parts; neck angle is good, and the finish is attractive. There are a few repaired back and side cracks and localized minor finish repairs associated with these. The top's only crack is at the pickguard's margin, and it's not been repaired; the original pickguard is well attached. Neck and top finish is original and in excellent condition.

The guitar is set up with medium gauge strings and an action of 5-6 64ths at the 12th fret. There is a little bit of room left on the saddle for future adjustments, too. Fret dress and set-up done by us, and the guitar plays cleanly and easily up the neck.

1-11/16" width at the nut, 25.4" scale, rounded profile neck. Spruce and mahogany body with black binding, Grover tuners, strap button added in the heel.
