1928 Martin 5-17T

Serial # 34578. A beguiling little tenor guitar, we have set-up this 5-17T with octave mandolin tuning, and it's really a joy to play. Measuring a scant 11-3/8" across, the size 5 isn't much larger than a baritone ukulele, but with its X braced top and exceptionally light build, the instrument offers up an amazing amount of tone.

Completely original, but for new bridge pins; and in excellent condition but for a tiny 1" short repaired top crack and a few cleanly glued back braces, this 5-17T doesn't leave us wanting for much. Original Grover tuning machines work well, original bar frets play cleanly, and the guitars' neck angle allows for an easy playing low set-up. There is strum-wear on the top, but the rest of the instrument's finish is in particularly good shape.

U-shaped neck carve with a nut width of 1-1/4", scale of 22.5" and a spread of 1-3/8" at the saddle. Solid mahogany unbound body, rosewood fingerboard and bridge, ebony nut, original ivory saddle.

With original chipboard case, and some song lyrics from the mid 1960's.
