J.R. Stewart C.1928 Le Domino Soprano Ukulele

The Le Domino brand of instruments was first built by J.R. Stewart in Chicago in the 1920's. The trademark would become Regal's in 1929, but the early Stewart-built Le Dominos are distinctive thanks to their headstock decals and fine construction.

This example is the finest we've ever come across -- an 'under-the-bed-special' if you will -- and gorgeously preserved. Even its green felt case looks untouched by time. The instrument is crack-free, and in excellent working order. It's body is built of solid birch, with jet black finish, ivoroid accents, and those unbelievably cool domino decals. Even the fingerboard position markers are dominos that correspond to the fret number.

It's a very fine sounding instrument and a wonderful conversation piece - as nice an example as you're likely to find.
