1995 Bart Reiter Whyte Laydie No. 2

Bart Reiter has been hand-building banjos in Michigan for a few decades, and is highly regarded in the frailing community for the quality and tone of his instruments. This Whyte Laydie No. 2 features an 11” 24 bracket maple rim with traditional Whyte Laydie style tone ring, renaissance head, and No Knot tailpiece. The maple neck features a bound ebony fingerboard with traditional engraved pearl inlays and a masterfully executed gryphon on the headstock. A number of years ago we carved a frailing thumb-scoop into the end of the fingerboard; the instrument is otherwise original and in excellent condition.

The banjo plays cleanly and is set up with a comfortably low action. Frets are in great shape, and level. 5-Star hardware is lovely to use, and the ivoroid tuner buttons are a very classy finishing touch.

With hardshell case.
