1996 Gibson Super 400 CES

One of two Gibson Super 400 CES electric archtops to have come in recently. This one is a custom-ordered example in wine red finish. A striking and beautiful instrument, the guitar is intensely eye-catching, with its white and gold accents set-off against the dark wine finish. It’s in particularly fine condition, as well, which makes it even that much more attractive.

18” carved body of highly figured maple and perfectly straight and quartered spruce. Multiple-layer purflings on every edge, white bindings, finely cut pearl inlays, and a gorgeous bound tortoise-celluloid pickguard.

Completely original and almost unplayed, the guitar’s only flaws are a few small dings in the top’s finish on the lower bass bout. Frets are unworn, and the finish is in excellent condition throughout the guitar. Original PAF pickups sound incredible, and we’re fans of the flatwound tone coming out of this exceptional jazz guitar.

Round neck with 1-11/16” nut, 25.5” scale, Venetian cut-away.

With original hardshell case
