2013 Gibson Custom Shop '63 ES-335 Block Reissue

The Nashville-made Gibson 1963 ES-335 Block Reissue is the most faithful-to-the-original Block-neck 335 yet made by Gibson. The guitar features the same solid maple center block, long-tenon hide-glued neck joint, maple laminate body, and quartersawn mahogany neck as those built in 1963; and the guitar’s hardware is painstakingly accurate as well. With a lightweight aluminum tailpiece and original no-spring ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic, period-correct Historic truss-rod assembly and Kluson double-ring tuning machines, this guitar goes where no Gibson has gone before (well, at least since 1963).

Cosmetically, the Gibson Custom Shop just nailed it with this one. The sunburst is exquisite, binding color is just right, and the back/sides/neck color is perfect. The guitar’s gorgeous headstock (at 17 degrees) quartered rosewood fingerboard, and classic inlays are lovely finishing touches. This example is finished with a Vintage sunburst top and VOS thin nitro lacquer.

Equipped with a pair of BurstbuckerHumbuckers, a fast ’63 neck (with 1-11/16” nut and 24-3/4” scale, 12” radius, and custom vintage frets) the guitar both plays and sounds heavenly. It has an incredible acoustic resonance and to-die-for plugged in goodness.

In just about mint condition, this ’63 ES-335 Block Reissue is likely in better shape than most any new Gibson at your local new Gibson dealer. Better-still, it’s also been set-up in our shop and plays a nicely as you’d want it to.

With original hardshell case, COA, and tags.
