Built in very limited numbers, the Gibson AJ Amberburst is something of a turbo-charged version of its ever-popular Advanced Jumbo model. The guitar is built with an Adirondack red spruce top and rosewood back and sides, and finished with a great looking amber sunburst to its top. Gold Grover open-back tuners bejewel the headstock, and under the hood you’d find a Trance Audio Amulet pickup system. Gibson put a lot of eggs in the basket that is this guitar, and the pay off to a player is great.

The AJ Amberburst is in lovely condition, and it’s just been carefully setup here at Folkway. There’s a small chip in the finish on the heel of the neck, but the guitar is otherwise near-mint.

With its long-scale neck and rosewood back and sides, the AJ is famous for its volume, power, clarity and balance, and this red spruce-topped version lives up to the reputation. It’s a great flatpicker with plenty of horsepower in reserve and lots of Gibson character. Gibson designed the AJ to compete against Martin’s D-28, and it does so very well.

25.4” scale neck with round carve and 1-11/16” nut. Bound rosewood fingerboard with classic AJ pearl inlays. Bone nut and saddle, firestripe pickguard. Scalloped braces, small rectangular bridge with glued-in through-cut saddle.

With original hardshell case and Certificate of Authenticity.
