1966 Gibson Melody Maker

Serial # 516261. The Pelham blue turned Cadillac green of this mid 1960's Melody Maker has got us all fired up here. It's just a gorgeous color, even if not at all blue any longer, and more than makes up for this guitar's shortcomings! The finish is completely original, but the yellowing effect of the original 50 year old lacquer top coat acts as a lens over the blue undercoat - and voila! Green.

Single-pickup Melody maker with changed tuners and bridge. Original Maestro trem is missing its arm but would otherwise be functional. Original pickup and pots, fresh solder. Original frets, pickguard, and finish. The Tune-O-Matic bridge replaces the guitar's original wrap-around style bar, and there are plugged holes where the mounting studs were originally located. New nut by us.

The guitar plays well, looks great, and sounds the way a Melody Maker ought to. Comfortable neck with nut width of 1-9/16" and scale of 24.75. Frets aren't great, but play well enough, and the guitar has just been set-up in out shop . A first-rate "player" and a pretty affordable super-cool vintage Gibson.

With original chipboard case
