1935 Gibson L-00

A local guitar, this very early 1935 Gibson L-00 was purchased from the family of its original owner. It has survived the years incredibly well and has just come through our repair shop with a perfectly executed neck reset. A particularly fine L-00 with no cracks, repairs, or loose braces, it is in remarkable condition and is 100% truly and completely original. Bridgepins, nut, saddle, frets, finish, endpin – every bit of this L-00 is factory original.

The guitar was played Hawaiian style, with nut riser installed, until now. As a result the frets remain unworn and factory fresh. We did not have to dress the frets at all after the reset, and the guitar plays beautifully and cleanly right up the neck. Its not often that 80 year old frets don't need any help, but it does happen... sometimes!

A wonderfully responsive, quick, and loud L-00, this guitar does exactly what you'd want it to. Lean in to it and it gives back that gutsy vintage ragtime and blues tone, pull back and it warms up and cleans up. A fabulous fingerstyle guitar with excellent presence, mid-range sweetness, clear fundamental, and old-timey vibe.

The neck has a chunky feel with a full V profile and rounded sides. Nut width is 1-3/4”, scale is 24-3/4” and the string spread at the original saddle is 2-3/8”.

Original finish throughout; some wear to the back of its neck; dings and dents here and there (but much fewer than the norm); fairly thin finish (which is something of a rarity among L-00s from the mid 30's); and a medium sized sunbust. Original ebony nut has never been removed and the original tuning machines are in good working order.

Here's a rare chance to get your hands on a pretty much perfect guitar, with time-capsule originality, world-class neck reset, and classic big and bold L-00 tone.
