1934 Gibson L-00

A particularly lovely, local, single-family-owned L-00 in beautiful condition. The guitar was brought to our shop about 10 years back by the grandson of its original owner and was left with us for a neck reset and refret, which were completed by Mark Stutman at that time. It's a wonderful example of the classic L-00, full of punchy mid-range and raw bluesy power.

Apart from the frets and a replacement saddle the guitar is original down to the bridge pins and unmodified bridge. We’ve reglued two brace ends and three very small back cracks while the guitar was on the bench. There are no top cracks (not even a pickguard crack) and the top is arched perfectly with no distortion, bellying, or sinkage. In short, It's perfect.

Clean neck reset, perfect frets, and a very fine set-up make the guitar a lot of fun to play. The neck has the classic mid-1930's round-shouldered V profile with a fair bit of chunk in the feel, a 1-3/4" nut width and a 24-3/4" scale. The neck depth at the 1st fret is a substantial .982”. The guitar's finish shows wear along the body edges and to the back of the neck, and there is some sincerely attractive arm wear along the top's lower bass bout and strum wear around the soundhole and fretboard extension.

As far as Gibson L-00s go, this one is a very well preserved example, with the added bonus of excellent playability and a perfect set-up. It's our kind of guitar.

With modern hardshell case.
