2016 Gibson Custom Shop True Historic 1960 Les Paul Standard

Gibson's True Historic 1960 Les Paul Standard was billed as the most authentic sunburst Les Paul reissue Gibson has created since 1960. Every detail of the original 1960 Les Paul was painstakingly recreated in the design of this guitar – from the double-carved maple top to the style of the truss-rod nut, and everything in between.

The fingerboard and long-tenon neck are joined with hide glue, the neck carve is accurately contoured to Gibson's 1960 shape, the dark cherry sunburst is (minus the smoke, nicotine, and UV fade) exactly as it should be, and the plastic parts have been recreated to be molecularly identical to Gibson's late 1950's stuff. It goes on and on – the headstock shape, nut material, tuner style, gearing, and buttons; the bridge and stop tailpiece, the gorgeous flamed maple top and lightweight one-piece mahogany body. The Custom Bucker PAF humbuckers are wound to offer exactingly true original PAF tone, and the bumblebee capacitors and vintage CTS pots fill in the details when the tone is rolled off.

This example is in excellent condition and comes complete with its COA and custom reproduction Lifton brown/pink case. It weighs in at a scant 8.4 lbs – which is amazingly light for a non-weight-relieved Les Paul. There is very slight playwear to its finish and frets, and the guitar has just been setup here at Folkway with 10-46 strings. The finish shows some sun-fade on its treble-side, and there’s aniline bleed along the fretboard binding in keeping with the originals. The pickups read 7.6k and 7.8k, and the 1960 neck carve measures .808” at the 1st fret and .886” at the 12th.

With original hardshell case, COA, and black plastic switch cavity cover.
