2012 Fender Japan Thinline Jazz Bass VMH

An incredibly rare Made in Japan Thinline Fender Jazz Bass, with a mahogany body, bass-side F-hole, Jazz Bass pickups and controls, and bound rosewood fingerboard with classic Jazz feel. Made exclusively for the Japanese market, there are so few of these babies here in North America that finding another is a near impossibility. Searching online in english turns up a couple of photos but that's it. Suffice to say, if you're looking for an entirely unique Fender bass, this is a good candidate!

A great looking instrument, this thinline Jazz bass features a semi-hollow mahogany body bound in vintage white and finished in high-gloss. The pickguard is three-ply pearloid in standard Jazz outline, and the controls are laid out in the typical Jazz bass fashion. There are holes in the pickguard for a finger-rest and a neck pickup cover, but these have never been installed, as there are no matching holes in the body.

Bound rosewood fingerboard with pearloid inlays, Made in Japan decal and serial number at the base of the back of the neck, Fender F neck plate, and a good looking 60's style Jazz Bass headstock with definite vintage vibe.

The bass is in gorgeous condition and has been set-up here at Folkway. The case is the original issue, perfectly fitted tweed hardshell. There is small ding on the headstock, but no other flaws.

Lightweight, warm Jazz tone, great neck, great looks and totally unique – this is one cool Fender bass.
