1966 Fender Jazz Bass

Serial # 131867. A one owner transition-era Fender Jazz Bass brought to Folkway by only person who's ever played it. It's still pretty exciting when that happens. We were the first people in half a century to turn the pickguard screws and breath air into the control cavity. The bass is completely original, unmodified, and perfect.

Neck dated March of '66, pots dated 11th week of 66. Bound rosewood fingerboard with pearloid dot makers -- a combination particular to early '66. Sunburst lacquer finish over an alder body, original hardware throughout, including bridge and pickup covers, finger-rest, and strap buttons. Original frets show very little wear, the original nut has never been removed, and headstock decals are intact and perfect.

Finish is in very fine condition. There are a few notable worn spots on the body's sides, and again along the binding's edge on the treble edge of the neck. Not much in terms of dings or dents from carelessness. The bass's owner has been fastidious in his care for the instrument since buying it new. There's a paper bag from the 1960's in the case pocket with old strings in it!

The bass sounds exceptional and works flawlessly. Classic Jazz bass neck feel and balance. 9.4 Lbs.

With original hardshell case.
