1986 PRS 24 (Pre Standard)
A rare vintage PRS 24, which later became called the Standard 24. This is 1219th guitar ever made by PRS guitars, and was hand-built in the company's second year in the biz. Paul Reed Smith opened his Annapolis shop in 1985 with just a few employees, and was personally involved in the building of his guitars in those early days. This example features the company's early T/B pickups and Sweet Switch, PRS “Milcom” tremolo, PRS tuners, and white finish. It's in excellent and original condition but shows a few dings on its edges. Fretwear is minimal, and the guitar's set-up is great.
Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with moon-dot inlays, 24 fret neck, and an early pattern regular neck carve with a medium profile rounded feel. Playability is effortless, and the neck carve is really comfortable. It's easy to understand why PRS guitars were so well received in the mid 1980's.
PRS guitars built this early don't come around too often. A very collectable instrument, and an amazing player.
