1963 Kay Swingmaster 'Custom Diamond'

Serial # 839. Kay Musical Instruments was formed in Chicago in 1931 and was a prodigious builder of instruments into the 1970's. Many were sold under its own brand name, while many others were branded with the names of, well, pretty much any company who hired Kay to build instruments for them. We'll admit to having no previous knowledge of who owned the trademark 'Custom Diamond' but can tell you that this particular guitar is essentially a Kay K672 Swingmaster with a different headstock logo.

16" thinline full-hollow single cutaway body with checker bindings and sunburst finish, 'Kleenex' pickups, bolt-on neck with bound rosewood fingerboard, pearloid block inlays, and long 25.7" scale. Grover Sta-Tite tuners, 1-11/16" nut, round neck. This guitar offers up some great clean and jazzy vintage tone at a less than vintage price.

We've had this one listed 'AS-IS' for the last while, but we've just finished all the repairs that it was needing, and can offer it now in flawless working order. Perfect refret, a new aged bone nut, the bridge has been fit properly, and the guitar is beautifully set up. Playability is dreamy, and the guitar is a joy.
