1959 Gibson ES-140 3/4 T

Gibson's ES-140 ¾ T is a fully hollow, thin body ¾ sized archtop. Dressed in ES-125 appointments, the 140 ¾ looks a lot like a mini ES-125T with a cut-away. It's super fun to play, really light in weight, and acoustically very responsive. The neck has a round '59 carve with a 1-5/8” nut width, shorter 22.75” scale, and a body joint at the 14th fret. P-90 pickup, adjustable bridge, rosewood fingerboard with pearloid dot markers, and sunburst lacquer top with brown back and sides.

This example is amazingly clean and attractive. The tailpiece is a period replacement, and there is completely invisible strap-button repair on the guitar's heel. I'd love to be able to claim this repair as it's so beautifully done. Set up is excellent, frets show only light wear, and the tuners work well.

The P90 pickup, short scale neck with low tension strings, and full-hollow construction give this guitar a warm and jazzy/bluesy tone. The small 12.5” wide body make it about as easy to play as a hollow-body can get.

With original ¾ size chipboard case
