2002 Oskar Graf 16" Archtop

Serial # A1/02. Oskar Graf's instruments combine the finest craftsmanship the world has ever seen, a keen attention to the most tiny details, incredible tone, traditional but unique design, and some of the most remarkably comfortable necks. He is a luthier of the highest calibre, and one who will continue to be revered in decades and centuries from now.

Graf's archtops are not built on a Gibson blueprint, but rather feature a design unique to this builder. His build is light and his tops and back feature a nicely accentuated recarve, which allows for a full response under a lighter attack and more warmth than most archtops provide. The guitar gives back beautifully, and brings out a player's expressiveness and feel.

This example, built in 2002, features quartered figured maple back, sides, and neck, parallel braced Sitka top, rosewood bindings with mitered purflings, and hand-crafted ebony fittings. Floating Kent Armstrong humbucking pickup with pickguard mounted volume and tone controls; and if you're in a single-coil mood, a second pickguard / pickup assembly is provided with the guitar that swaps out with a quick-connect and a single screw.

Rounded neck carve with 1-3/4" bone nut, bound ebony fingerboard, and 25.2" scale. Pearl and gold headstock inlays, Schaller tuning machines, gloss lacquer finish with a naturally amber color.

The guitar is in absolutely perfect condition, with very little fretwear and almost no signs of use. Set-up in shop with Chrome 12's it's an enjoyable and inspiring instrument to play.
