1931 Martin 0-18K
A time-capsule guitar, this 1931 Martin 0-18K has survived the years without any cracks or loose braces, almost no finish wear or deterioration, and has never been converted from its Hawaiian set-up. We're pretty sure it's the cleanest 0-18K we've yet seen. And yes, it sounds heavenly.
The 0-18K was built between 1918 and 1935. It was Martin's top-selling Hawaiian model and sold well during the Hawaiian craze of the 1920's, certain years nearly keeping pace with the standard 0-18. The guitar features a body entirely of Hawaiian Koa, Style 18 rosewood bindings and maple purflings, wooden rosette, tiny scalloped braces, flush-ground bar frets in a flat ebony fingerboard, tall ebony nut and brass Waverly tuners with ivoroid buttons. The guitar's ebony bridge, ivory saddle, and black bridge pins are factory original and unmodified. The bridge plate has been replaced, though for no reason that we are able to determine. The back of the headstock is stamped with the C.F. Martin logo as well as Made in USA, indicating that this guitar has spent all of its nearly 90 year life here in Canada.
