2009 Robert Ruck

The late Robert Ruck is among the world's most highly regarded builders of classical guitars. His instruments have inspired musicians and luthiers alike for their attention to sonic detail, their perfection of workmanship, their comfort and handling, and their sheer beauty. With a career that spanned more than 50 years, Ruck has built some 1100 instruments. We're very pleased to offer this fine guitar at Folkway, and have become quite thoroughly enamoured with it since its arrival here recently.

A 2009 build, this Robert Ruck classical features a compound cedar top, and Indian rosewood back and sides. Scale is 650mm, nut width is 54mm, string spacing at the bridge is 58mm. Doubled sides, dual soundports, French polish finish, and expertly mitered purflings. Ruck's workmanship is flawless, his finish is inspiring, and his neck carve is comfortable and easy to play. The guitar is in excellent condition and without repairs or issues other than some light fingernail wear to the top.

An incredibly responsive, balanced, and nuanced guitar with impressive strength and output. This Ruck is loud but anything but brash. There is warmth without compromise in detail, there is brightness without any thinness. And all the variation in subtlety of a player's right hand is rewarded and amplified in equal helpings. It is an incredible guitar, and helps to make it quite easy to understand why Ruck's client list reads something like a who's who of the Classical guitar universe.
