Martin HD-28

One of C.F. Martin & Co.’s best selling models, the HD-28 was introduced in the late 1970’s and appealed to player’s desperate to find an original scalloped braced Herringbone D-28. It was the first model built with scalloped braces, small maple bridge plate, and, of course, Herringbone top trim since 1944, and was an immediate success.

Today’s HD-28 isn’t terribly different than those first guitars built in the 1970’s. The pickguard has been upgraded to an attractive tortoiseshell patterned one, the nut and saddle are now bone, and the headstock logo has been modernized. Internally, the guitar still features scalloped braces and a small maple bridgeplate – and it’s a marvelous sounding guitar.

Indian rosewood back and sides, Sitka spruce top, white body bindings, ebony fingerboard and bridge, gloss lacquer finish. Modern round neck carve with 1-11/16” nut width, 25.4” scale.

With 640 Molded Hardshell case
