Martin OM-28 Authentic 1931
Martin's OM-28 Authentic 1931 is a wonderfully believable re-creation of one of the most important acoustic guitars ever built - the OM-28. This new guitar does an incredible job of capturing the tone and feel of an original small-guard OM-28, and very much looks the part too. The VTS top and braces (torrefied red spruce), historically accurate neck carve, brace carving and layout, and 'vintage gloss' lacquer finish all work together to make this guitar as incredible as it is.

The guitar has the warmth and openness of an 85 year old OM, along with excellent projection, balance, sustain, and that indescribable thing that we hear in great vintage guitars. It's a lightweight instrument, built with choice materials, vintage dimensions, and ebony neck reinforcement; and that lightness directly translates into overtone development, smokiness, and a warm and deep bass end. The VTS red spruce and Madagascar rosewood impart a boldness to the treble notes and strength across the mid-range. All-in, the guitar offers players the best of big and small guitars in one very playable, comfortable, and attractive package.
Hide-glue construction, scalloped bracing, grained ivoroid binding, fine herringbone top trim, zigzag back strip, and wooden rosette and purflings. The neck's shape was patterned after a 1931 OM-28 that once belonged to Mike Seeger - the feel is mostly rounded with the slightest hint of a V, and the size is quite contemporary. Those early 1930's Martin necks were much more manageable in size than most folks realize. 1-3/4" nut width, roughly 25.4" scale, and the strings spread to 2-5/16" at the saddle. The headstock is built with an early 30's long volute and shape, and has the C.F. Martin stamp on the back side in place of a decal logo. Waverly tuners, and bone nut.
The guitar ships with a Harptone deluxe hardshell case, and comes complete with replica 1930's serial numbered hangtag.
