Sawchyn Hobo Mandolin

Peter Sawchyn is sadly no longer building instruments.

Peter Sawchyn's newly introduced Hobo mandolin is the cousin to his very popular Beavertail line, and offers the same excellent build quality, feel, and tone that we're fans of. The Hobo features a red spruce top with stylized F holes, hide-glue construction and dark finish. The headstock has a vintage Gibson off-brand vibe, and is fitted with vintage-style tuners with ivoroid buttons.

Ebony radiused fingerboard with guitar-sized frets and pearl dot inlays. Ebony compensated bridge, ivoroid biding and satin lacquer finish.

As compared to a Beavertail, the Hobo has a darker, deeper, warmer, and slightly lo-fi tone. It's a fun solo instrument, with less projection and horsepower, but more overtones, and richness.
