Sawchyn Beavertail Octave Mandolin

Peter Sawchyn is sadly no longer building instruments.

Built similarly to the wildly popular Beavertail Mandolins, Peter Sawchyn's Beavertail Octave Mandolin offers exceptional tone, meticulous craftsmanship, and an exceptional feel at an affordable price-point. The octave mandolin features a domed X braced Sitka top and maple back and sides, 12-3/4" body, and 22-3/4" scale neck. Mahogany neck with adjustable truss rod, radiussed fingerboard, compensated ebony bridge, bone nut and high-quality Gotoh tuning machines. The instrument is finished in a thin satin Nitrocellulose lacquer finish with natural top and dark-stained back and sides.

Tuned GDAE, but an octave lower than a mandolin (thus the name), the Octave Mandolin is an easy lateral-move for most guitar or mandolin players, and offers something a little different in the mix. Made in Canada.
