Sawchyn Beavertail Mandola

Peter Sawchyn is sadly no longer building instruments.

Built right here in Canada by Peter Sawchyn, the Beavertail Mandola features the same top-tier workmanship and materials as the popular Mandolin model, but with a 16-7/8" scale, larger body, and CGDA tuning. The instrument sounds exceptional, and thanks to Peter's meticulous fretting and construction, the playability is heavenly.

Figured maple back and sides, master-grade Sitka spruce top with X bracing. Mahogany neck with radiused ebony fingerboard and pearl dot markers. Bone nut, compensated ebony bridge. High quality vintage-style tuning machines, satin lacquer finish throughout, ivoroid top binding and two-line rosette. 1-9/32" width at the nut, body measures 11" wide and 2-1/4" deep.

The workmanship and quality of this instrument belies its budget price tag. We can't think of a Mandola out there that offers better value than the Beavertail.
