Waterloo WL-JK Rosewood
The Jumbo King is the largest guitar in the Waterloo lineup, and offers a whole lot of volume, headroom, and mid-range punch. The guitar features a straight X-braced top, rosewood back and sides, and a deep body that measures 5” at the endpin and 4” at the neck.
This particular Rosewood Jumbo King was ordered with a smaller neck carve. At the time the order was placed the folks at Collings hoped to soon have neck options available for the Jumbo King model as they do for the WL-14. However, by the time this guitar entered production they hadn't yet jigged up to be able to carve neck profiles other than the prominent V that is standard to this model. After much pleading, Collings agreed to hand-carve the neck of this instrument for us, and voila – we have a smaller neck WL-JK, and the only one of its kind at the present time. With a softened V that measures 1-3/4” at the nut, the guitar's neck feels a lot like a mid 1930's Gibson – and we like it a lot!
Sunburst finished top with off-white binding, tortoise pickguard and herringbone rosette, ebony rectangle bridge with drop-in bone saddle and pin spacing of 2-3/8”. 25.5” scale rosewood fingerboard, bone nut, retro-styled enclosed tuning machines.
