Collings 0002H Torrefied

The 12 fret 000-2H is always a shop favourite when we have one in stock. We ordered this instrument with standard appointments but for an upgraded torrefied Sitka spruce top, and we were just delighted upon seeing it for the first time. The caramel colored spruce is just gorgeous and offers a lovely contrasting backdrop to the guitar's ivoroid accents.

Adding a torrefied top to the already vintage-inspired 000-12 fret design greatly enhanced the aged look and tone of the guitar. It is a bold, dry, woody, expressive, and hugely resonant instrument with a clean fundamental. Overtones are kept low in the mix, and the guitar is really rewarding for a player who demands the most out of their acoustics. Excellent balance, strong volume across the strings and right up the fretboard, plenty of boldness through the trebles and upper mids, and a bass-end that's equally as present as it is confident.

15” wide 12-fret body of Indian rosewood and Torrefied Sitka spruce, herringbone top trim, and ivoroid bindings. Pre-war styled scalloped X bracing, ebony pyramid bridge with 2-5/16” string spacing and drop-in bone saddle, bevelled-edge tortoise-celluloid pickguard. Soft V neck carve, 25.5” scale, 1-13/16” nut width. Gloss finish throughout, bone nut and saddle, ebony pins, Waverly tuners.
