2013 Collings MT2 Mandola
About as beguiling as a mandolin-family instrument can get, this recent Collings MT2 Mandola has everything going on just right. Mandolas are, as a general rule, cavernous and expressive, but this instrument is a few notches above our expectations in the tone department. It's throaty and warm, hugely resonant, bold, and nuanced. A wonderful instrument to enjoy playing solo, it's fabulous at single-note melody and really excels at traditional, classical, and folk.
Figured maple body with Adirondack spruce top; tortoise bound with white purflings, ebony fingerboard and bridge, Collings tailpiece, and gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish. 1-5/16” nut, 15.9” scale. Pearl Collings logo and flourish.
