1946 Rickenbacher Model B

The company that invented the electric guitar offered a number of variations on the lap steel theme by the mid 1940's. The model B was among the most popular steel guitars ever made, and by all accounts still very much holds that torch. The tone of the horseshoe magnet pickup used on these steels is legendary, and the Model B is a favourite of today's steel guitar players.

This example dates from c. 1946. It features the standard Bakelite body with raised metal body panels, volume and tone controls, and string-through-magnet horseshoe style pickup. The tuners have been swapped out, but the instrument is otherwise original and in excellent working order.

The case is in great shape, too, and in the case pocket you'll find mid-1940's issue Stevens steel, pitch pipe, and picks.

It's a lovely package, and a whole lot of tone.
