2008 Marc Beneteau Koa L-00
Serial # 240108. With its combination of exquisite tone woods, lush sunburst finish, amazingly comfortable neck, and a masterful execution of every detail in the construction, this L-00 inspired guitar is heads above most other builder's efforts.
Highly figured Koa back and sides, highest grade Englemann spruce top, tightly figured mahogany neck, Bloodwood bindings and perfectly mitered purflings, bound soundhole, abalone rosette, ebony headstock backstrap, bridge, and fingerboard, gold SCGC tuners, and compensated bone saddle. The guitar is nothing short of exquisite.
The body has the classic L-00 outline, but is built with extra depth. Measuring in at 4-3/8" at the endpin, there is a lot more air volume inside this instrument than in a typical L-00, and the guitar's bass response is enhanced as a result. The top is built with scalloped X braces and tapered tone bars, which helps capture those classic L-00 mids and round trebles.
The neck has a modern and comfortable carve, with a C shape and a nut width of 1-11/16". Frets are beginning to show some wear but still play very well, and the set up is lovely. The guitar's short scale (24.7") adds to the easy playability. LR Baggs Anthem SL professionally installed.
