2002 Blanchard Sugar Pine Custom

Dated February 15th 2002. Mark Blanchard has been building exquisite guitars in California since the early 1990's, and has a well deserved reputation as one of the nation's best builders. His instruments are lightly built, finely made, and very responsive.

This custom 12 fret Sugar Pine was completed in early 2002. Its body features a contoured Venetian cutaway, and is built of master-grade Honduran rosewood and Engelmann spruce, highlighted by Macassar ebony bindings, paua abalone rosette and inlays. At 15-1/4" wide, it's roughly the size of a 000, but features a slightly deeper body for increased bass response. Its neck features a rounded carve, 1-13/16" nutwidth and 25.4" scale.

A very fine sounding guitar, and one that would appeal to many a fingerstyle player. The combination of Honduran rosewood and Engelmann spruce adds depth and sensitivity to the already expressive Blanchard.

In excellent condition, the Sugar Pine shows light playwear and a small assortment of minor dings. Set-up by us, the guitar plays beautifully.
