c.1990 Larrivée 00-9

Serial # 15127. An uncommon find, as Larrivée has not made very many 00-sized steel strings over the years. This example features a 12 fret neck joint, 25.6" scale length, and 14" width across its lower bout.

Indian rosewood back, sides, and bindings, Sitka spruce top with mosaic rosette, ebony rectangle bridge and clear pickguard. The neck features one-piece construction, and an ivoroid-bound ebony fingerboard. Gold headstock logo, nickel Schaller tuners, gloss finish. 1-3/4" width at the nut, 2-3/16" string spread at the bridge; and an action of 4-6 64ths at the 12th fret with a nearly full height saddle.

The guitar has an expressive and darkly colored midrange, excellent presence and fundamental, and powerful trebles. Overtones are complimentary and not overbearing, but support well. The guitar's bass response is richer than one would expect from a Larrivée of this size, and very pleasing. All told, it's a remarkably good sounding small guitar, and one that's aged very favourably.

In excellent condition, with no cracks, damage or repairs. Finish is beautiful scratch-free, and the guitar's frets show almost no wear. The guitar has been carefully treated over its 25 or so years.
