c.1955 Kay K-1 Old Kraftsman
A big 17” archtop built by Kay in Chicago in the mid 1950's. This is a surprisingly great sounding archtop with lots of volume, cut, and projection. We'd put it against a similarly aged Gibson L4 in tone and would expect it to perform well. The neck is pretty chunky though, so you'll have to like the feel of a real deep-carve.
Solid spruce top with parallel bracing, maple back and sides, white bindings and matching pickguard. Old Kraftsman headstock logo, bone nut, Kluson tuners.25.5” scale, 1-11/16” nut.
Frets and set-up are excellent, and the guitar plays cleanly and easily.
